Hockey: Duluth East nips Elk boys 2-1

Duluth East, which has beaten Elk River in the last two section finals, edge the Elks again 2-1 on Saturday in Duluth.

Jake Randolf’s goal with 1:52 left in the third period was the game-winner.

Dom Tomomato scored for the Greyhounds (17-5) at 5:24 of the first period.

The Elks (9-13-1) tied it on Micahel Katchmark’s power play goal at 11:16 of the first.

The second period and most of the third were stalemates until Randolph settled the issue.

Elk goalie Anders Franke stopped 21 of 23 shots and East’s Jolo Jeannetta stopped 14 of 15.

Elk River will host Osseo on Tuesday evening.
