Roger Peterson, 59, died of lung cancer Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011, at New River Nursing Home in Monticello, surrounded by his wife, children and brothers.
He was born July 2, 1951, in Minneapolis, to Robert and Ethel Peterson.
Mr. Peterson enlisted in the Army on Aug. 7, 1969, on a buddy plan with twin brother, Raymond, Jim Dennis and John Hageman. He was given an honorable discharge on Sept. 27, 1971.
He lived in Big Lake (Orrock) for nearly 30 years and was married to his wife, Sandy, for 34 years. He was a hard worker and employed at Life Fitness (Parabody) for 22 years.
Mr. Peterson loved fishing, hunting, his Farmall tractor, playing card games, watching TV and spending time with family and friends.
The funeral service was held at Christ Lutheran Church in Otsego Tuesday, Feb. 8. The burial was held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
Pallbearers were Matthew, Aaron, and Jason Peterson; Jerry and Rod Uran; and Michael (Rusty) Grimley.
Mr. Peterson is survived by his mother, Ethel; wife, Sandy; son, Jeromy (Tanya Johnson); granddaughters, Brooke and Summer; daughter, Jamie; twin brother, Raymond; brothers, Fred and Rocky; and his sister, Paulette (Gordon) Cloutier.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert; brothers Ronald, and Larry (Pete); sister-in-law, DeeAnne Peterson; and nephews Donald (Scooter) Peterson and Travis Peterson.
