Hockey: NWSC leader Maple Grove blanks Elk boys 4-0
The Elk River boys hockey team lost to first-place Maple Grove 4-0 on Thursday evening in Maple Grover.
The Crimson (14-0-2 conference, 18-3-2 overall0 had two short-handed goals, by Dylan Stemon and Spencer Bell, along with even-strength goals by Jordan Gross and Trent Bolin. Ryan Coyme in goal made 20 saves for the shutout.
Anders Franke made 27 saves for the Elks (7-8-1 conference, 9-12-1 overall).
The Elks will play at Duluth East on Saturday at 3 p.m.
