The Star News has learned that Rogers Police Chief Jeff Luther and Rogers Police Sgt. Joleen Pitts have been placed on paid administrative leave.
Rogers City Administrator Steve Stahmer issued a prepared statement about each of the police department employees.
Chief Luther was placed on paid administrative leave effective 5 p.m. on Feb. 10. Sgt. Pitts was placed on leave at about 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 10. While Luther remains out on paid administrative leave, Capt. Mike Miller will serve as the Acting Chief Law Enforcement Officer for the Rogers Police Department.
“City staff and Council have a great deal of confidence in the ability of the fine officers of the Rogers Police Department, as well as the Department supervisors, to coninue providing a high level of public safety during this time,” Stahmer stated in the release.
Because these matters involve private personnel data, the City is precluded by the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act from commenting further, Stahmer said.
