Elk River freshman wrestlers qualified for state

Two Elk River freshman wrestlers, Austin Halleron and Garrett VanEps, qualified for a state freshman tournament. Halleron placed first and VanEps second in their respective weight classes at a regional meet Jan. 29 to earn berths at state in Champlin Park on Saturday, Feb. 5. Halleron was unable to wrestle at state due to an injury. Van Eps had a win and two losses at state. At the sectional six Elks placed in the top four.
