Hockey: Rogers blanks Proctor 4-0 with 26 penalties in game
The Rogers Royals tallied three goals in the third period and pummeled the Proctor Rails 4-0 at home Saturday in a penalty-filled game.
Rogers had 14 penalties, including three for unsportsmanlike conduct, and Proctor had 12 penalties, one unsportsmanlike. Rogers was 2-for-10 on power plays while killing all 11 Proctor power plays.
Andrew Smith got Rogers on the board in the first period. The score remained 1-0 until the third period when Zach Svoboda scored on a power play, Matt Weber scored shorthanded, and David Miller scored even-strength.
Jake Einarson made two assists, and Ben Witte, Zach Hnath, and Nick Polsfuss one each, for Rogers.
The Royals had 34 shots and Proctor 27. Royal goalie Robby Vukelich made 27 saves for the shutout. Proctor goalie Brody Morin stopped 30 of 34.
Rogers is 14-6-1 after the non-conference win and Proctor is 13-7-2.
The Royals will host Little Falls on Thursday evening in another non-conference game.
