Elk River Cub Foods reports string of thefts
A 20-year-old Zimmerman man was cited for theft of cough syrup, but an alleged accomplice got away.
Elk River Police were dispatched to Cub Foods on a report of one person in custody and another who fled in a vehicle described as either a Cadillac or Buick.
It’s unclear if this person took anything. The suspect in custody refused to give any information and said he only met the person that day.
The detained party was cited for shoplifting $10.98 worth of Robitussin cough syrup.
Another case of alleged shoplifting at Cub Foods led to an assault.
There were three suspects altogether — a 35-year-old Zimmerman woman, a 15-year-old Zimmerman girl and a 20-year-old Morris woman — involved in the incident. Two of the suspects were detained, and a third person was out in a car.
The detained suspects became uncooperative and had to be handcuffed after assaulting a Cub employee or employees.
A third theft report at the Elk River Cub Foods was taken at about 8 p.m.
Jan. 28. An 18-year-old Bismarck, N.D. man was arrested for stealing snacks and drinks.
He and a 17-year-old Elk River boy were also cited for an earlier theft at Walmart.
A 48-year-old Anoka man was cited for theft on Jan. 27 for taking various grocery items.
