Children’s author will speak in Elk River
National award winning children’s author, Julia Cook will appear at the Elk River Activity Center, 413 Proctor Ave., on Tuesday, Feb. 8 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Cook’s discussion will center on how her books can help teach lessons to children about such things as tattling, interrupting, personal safety, and about people’s personal space.
Having written 14 children’s books, such as “Melvin, the Magnifi-cent Molar” and “The Bubble Wrap Queen,” the author will also talk about the writing and publishing processes.
She has received the Association of Education Achievement Award five times for her books which are aimed at kindergarten through sixth-grade kids.
Cook’s next book, “My Worst Day Ever” is due for release March 10 of this year and is about listening and following instructions.
Seating is limited at the free event and those interested in attending must register by calling 763-635-4500.
