Mari Wallestad, all-state soccer defender for Elk River, signed with Bemidji State on Wednesday.

Wallestad played four varsity seasons, and was team captain and  all-conference the last two seasons while helping the Elks reach state tournaments both years. She made the all-state tournament team as a senior.

“She has good touch and has the potential to organize a back-line very nicely,” said BSU coach Jim Stone. “She adds talent, strength and know-how to our back-line.”

Bemidji, a Division II team, was 14-4-1 last year.
