Hockey: Royal boys down Princeton 3-1
Jake Einarson and Corey Braiedy scored just 1:27 apart for an early lead that held up as the first-place Rogers Royals defeated the Princeton Tigers 3-1 at home Tuesday evening.
Einarson scored at 10:53 with Parker Veith assisting, and Braiedy at 12:07 with Veith and Chad Miller assisting.
The second period was scoreless, but Bryan Jungles made it 3-0 just 32 seconds into the third period, assisted by Zach Hnath and Neal Smith.
Chad Lindenfelder got Princeton (2-3-1 conference, 5-11-1 overall) on the board at 5:05 of the third period.
Rogers goalie Robby Vukelich thwarted 23 of 24 shots, while Princeton goalie Ryan Carlson stopped 27 of 30.
Princeton was 0-for-4 and Rogers 0-for-1 on the power play.
The Royals (9-6-1 overall) are 5-0 in conference, with Cambridge-Isanti second at 3-1-1.
Next for Rogers is Becker-Big Lake there Thursday evening.
