Hockey: Elk girls trip North Metro 4-2
Jonna Curtis scored two goals and assisted on the other two as the Elk River girls defeated North Metro 4-2 on Saturday in Brooklyn Park.
Josie Brown and Jordan McLaughlin had the other goals for the Elks, who had a 45-25 shot advantage.
Goalie Tori Hermann stopped 24 of 25 shots.
Eighth-grader McLaughlin scored 4:07 into the game and Curtis connected at 13:24 with assists from Cassey Petrich and Brown.
Danielle Ach got the Stars on the board at 5:41 of the second, and Brown countered for the Elks at 11:23, assisted by Curtis and Madison Ellis.
Curtis struck again at 1:37 of the third period, Cassey Petrich assisting. That was the junior forward’s 30th goal of the season.
The Elks were 0-for-6 and Stars 0-for-3 on power plays.
Kayla Kreuter notched 41 saves for the Stars.
Elk River is now 8-5 in conference and 14-6 overall. North Metro is 3-7 and 5-12-2.
The Elks will host Maple Grove on Tuesday.
