A 1969 Yellow Stone Travel Trailer parked in the backyard of an Elk River home has been destroyed by fire.

The Elk River Fire Department was dispatched shortly after midnight on Jan. 16 to the 20600 block of Concord Street on a report of a shed fire.

They arrived to find the 8-by-20-foot trailer fully engulfed.

The owner of the trailer, who explained to authorities he resided in the trailer on his brother’s property, stated he awoke in the trailer and observed a wall on fire behind the wood stove.

The man attempted to put the fire out prior to calling for help, but was unsuccessful. The trailer was reported to be on fire for approximately 30 minutes prior to the arrival of an Elk River police officer.

Elk River Fire extinguished the blaze. The trailer was deemed a total loss.
