Hockey: Armstrong tops Elk boys on Enselin hat trick 3-2
Ryan Enselin scored all three goals as the Armstrong Falcons handed Elk River a 3-2 loss on Thursday evening in Robbinsdale.
Nick McCormack scored both Elk River goals, both in the second period, one on a power play. Michael Katchmark assisted on both and Taylor Bryan also assisted on one.
Enselin, a 5-8, 140-pound senior who had just four goals previously, scored twice in the first period and broke a 2-2 tie with his goal 8:06 into the final period.
Armstrong, a NWSC newcomer this year, is 5-5 in conference and 9-6 overall with two wins over the Elks.
Elk River is 7-9 overall and 5-5 in conference.
Elk goalie Anders Franke stopped 19 of 22 shots, and Falcon goalie Michael Greenberg thwarted 27 of 29.
Armstrong was 1-for-4 and the Elks 1-for-2 on the power play.
