Elk River approves signs, trees for old Target

Plans for signage and landscaping have been agreed to by the Elk River City Council for the former Target store at 19146 Freeport Ave. in the Elk Park Center. Furniture Outlets USA plans to turn the old Target into two furniture stores — Ashley Furniture HomeStore and Furniture Mart — and a third tenant space, possibly occupied by Jo-Ann, a fabric and craft store.
To accommodate the new uses, three entrances will be established in the old Target storefront. The council approved signage for all three. The council also agreed that Furniture Outlets USA should work with the city staff to add from 19 to 33 trees in the parking lot.
