Basketball: Dean sparks Royal boys over Bluejackets 58-42
R.J. Dean led on both ends of the court as the Rogers Royals defeated Cambridge-Isanti 58-42 on Thursday evening in Cambridge.
The senior guard scored 22 points and sparked the defensive effort.
The Royals led by just 24-23 at one point but took charge for the rest of the second half.
Rory Donovan added 15 points and Trevor Morlock 11 as the Royals improved to 4-2 in conference and 9-14 overall.
The Royals were hot at the free throw stripe, too, 21-for-25.
Ted Lutterman and Preston Bosacker scored 16 each for the Bluejackets, who dropped to 1-4 and 5-6.
Next for Rogers will be Princeton there Tuesday.
