The Rogers Royals were doubly elated Tuesday evening, as they not only pulled out a 61-54 win over Monticello at home but also avoided overtime.
The Royals (3-2 conference, 8-4 overall) had played three straight overtime games, of which they lost two, with a total of six overtime periods.
Hitting five their last six free shots, and 17-for-24 in the game, helped the Royals finish the job in regulation.
Front-line players led the win as Trevor Morlock scored 19 points, including four put-back baskets, Rory Donovan 17 points and Michael Schreiber 10.
Anthony Saavedra scored 15 and David Sell 13 for Monticelli (1-3 conference, 3-10 overall).
Next for Rogers is a game at Cambridge-Isanti on Thursday evening.
