Zach Stepan and Mitch Robinson won championships as the Zimmerman wrestlers placed fifth Saturday in their own Thunder Invitational.
Princeton was team champion and had three individual winners — Sam McPhail at 130, Zach Pederson at 145 and Andrew Barthel at 152.
Stepan, a senior, was champion at 125 pounds, beating Tyler Jobe of Grand Rapids 6-5 in the finals. He was 2-0 plus a bye and stayed unbeaten at 21-0.
Robinson, a sophomore, was champion at 189 pounds with a pin of Connor Ammerman of Princeton in 5:01 in the finals. He had two pins plus a bye and raised his record to 18-1.
Placing third for Zimmerman were Alex Koch at 140,Jon Zdenek at 171, and Albin Sterneman at 285. Placing fourth were Adam Pleschcourt at 112 and Hunter Smith placed at 119. Placing fifth were Justin Vidora at 103 and Steve Johnson at 160.
Rogers placed eight. The Royals had one third-placer in Philip Anderson at 112. Placing fourth were Philip Anderson at 112, Kyler Swanson at 135, and Mike Voorhees at 145. Thomas Kwiatowski placed fifth at 285.
Zimmerman will wrestle in a quad at Ogilview on Thursday along with Mora and Kimball. Rogers will wrestle at Becker on Thursday.
