Clara Hermine Anderson, 91, died peacefully at her home Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011.
She was born April 8, 1919, to Herman and Elsie (Peglow) Heddens in Rice, Minn. She later attended high school in Becker and after graduation she kept house for her father, brother and sister.
She married Rodney Anderson on June 5, 1941; they joined the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Elk River in the fall of 1941. After World War II ended, the family moved back to Elk River, from Becker, where they have lived ever since.
Mrs. Anderson was always busy; very active in the Emmanuel Lutheran Church as a Sunday school teacher, choir member, Ladies Aid (LWML) and the senior group. She also worked part-time for the county treasurer and for 20-plus years for Dr. McNair as a dental assistant.
Mrs. Anderson’s funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 17 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 1506 Main St. N.W., Elk River. Visitation will be from 4–8 p.m. Sunday at Dare’s Funeral Home, 805 Main St. N.W., Elk River (763-441-1212) and one hour prior to the service at church on Monday. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery Tuesday.
Survivors include her sons, Dennis (Connie) and Neil (Delia); two grandsons, Christian and Ryan; three step-grandsons, Ryan (Aimee) Meade, Shawn (Erin) Meade and Donavan Meade; three step-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Yuk Heddens; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rodney; brothers, Bauo Gustav and Harold William; and sister, Shirley Prigge.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers to the Emmanuel Lutheran church sound system or get something for yourself in memory of her.
