Wrestling: Royals have 5 runners-up, place 3rd at BC tourney

The Rogers wrestlers had five runners-up and placed third among nine teams in the Brooklyn Center Invitational on Saturday.

Kyle Yateboe (7-6) had a 14-0 win and a pin to reach the finals at 103 where he lost to Osseo’s Maverick Marash by pin in 1:26.

Phillip Anderson (11-4) won two decisions and a pin to reach the 112-pound finals where he lost to Rockford’s Ty Griffith 9-5.

Connor Larson (8-8) had two pins to reach the finals at 119 where he lost to Rockford’s Brad Johnson 5-1.

Kyler Swanson (8-8) had a pin and two decisions to reach the 140-pound finals. He was pinned in 1:18 by Osseo’s Adam Hammer.

Clay LeVasseur (8-2) had a pin and a decision to reach the 189-pound finals where he lost to Mahtomedi’s Tyler Carlsgaard 13-5.

Andrew List placed fourth at 135, Mike Voorhees placed fourth at 145, Ryan Lien placed fifth at 215, and Thomas Kwiatkowski placed sixth at 285.

Rogers will wrestle at St. Michael-Albertville on Thursday.
