Elk River police are investigating a series of daytime home burglaries that may be linked, according to Capt. Bob Kluntz.

In each of these three cases the suspect or suspects kicked in the front door to make entry into the house.

On one occasion a witness reported seeing a dark blue or black sedan near the home, possibly driven by a white male in his 20s and believed to have short hair.

“We believe they are all related, but cannot confirm that for sure right now,” Kluntz said.  The first burglary happened in the 11700 block of 197th Avenue. It was reported on Dec. 22, and the alleged crime occurred that day between 2 and 4 p.m.

The next two happened on Jan. 4 in the 18500 block of Olson Street. One of those reportedly happened between 5:15 and 6 p.m. The other reportedly occurred between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Jan. 4.

“We are asking that homeowners keep their doors locked and that all residents be vigilant for any suspicious persons or vehicles in their neighborhoods,” Kluntz stated. “If they do see anything suspicious, we would ask that they call 911 and report it immediately.”
