Swimming: Elks place first at Spring Lake Park Invitational
The Elk River swimmers repeated as champions of the Spring Lake Park Invitational on Saturday, outscoring runner-up Monticello 497-466 despite having no divers.
Event winners for the Elks were Aaron Schwab in the individual medley, Jacob Christy in the 100 freestyle, and the 200 freestyle team of Dan Webster, Christy, Peter Schultz and Collin Krueger.
“We had no divers, so we started the meet 39 points behind Monticello,” said coach Denise Eidem, noting that the Elks scored steadily in all the swimming events. “It was a fabulous day for the Elks.”
The Elks will host Coon Rapids on Thursday.
