Ellsworth (Al) Clayton Dahlin, 85, of St. Michael, formerly of Elk River, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2010, at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids.
He was born June 8, 1925, in Cokato to Alfred and Anna (Svanda) Dahlin. He graduated from Cokato High School in 1942.
Mr. Dahlin served in the U.S. Navy in Hawaii and Japan during World War II.
He worked as a mechanic at Moberg Motors in Cokato and later for Sears Roebuck & Co. as a service manager, retiring after 23 years.
On March 10, 1951, he married Ardelle Kopsala in Cokato. After living in various locations, they moved to Elk River in 1987 and then to St. Michael in 1999.
Mr. Dahlin enjoyed his work as a mechanic, and also enjoyed carpentry and woodwork as a hobby. He built the majority of their Elk River home.
He also was a member of the Cokato American Legion Post 209.
A memorial service was held Thursday, Dec. 30 at Elk River Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Cynthia Ganzkow-Wold officiating.
Survivors include his wife, Ardelle; children, Steven (Janet), Gail (Rob) Beckfeld, Mark, and Jana (Bill) Church; four grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and sister, Adelyne Lankki.
Mr. Dahlin was preceded in death by his sisters Mildred, Lillian and Helen and brothers Clarence, Oliver, Arnold and Albin.
