Elk River continued its recent surge with a 65-49 victory over Anoka at home on Tuesday evening, leading by as much as 30 points.
Makenzie Frericks, Annie Sizen and Victoria Jenson notched 12 points each as the Elks won for the fifth time in six games and got back to .500 at 6-6.
The Elks led 32-22 at the half. The Tornadoes (1-8) tried to press full court in the second half and the Elks were able to beat the press for some easy baskets. Meanwhile the Elks shook loose several turnovers with their own pressure.
Kayti Hanson added 8 points and Dani Edwards 7. Edwards got all 7 in the first half subbing for Jenson, who had foul trouble.
The Elks, 2-4 in conference, will play at Blaine on Friday evening.
